Sometimes I am asked by my clients about the copyright statement in the contract. So I would like to explain why the copyright is so important for any photographer.

1st of all the copyright serves as a reminder that my works are protected and they are not in the public domain for anyone to use without permission. That is why most of my works that appear online have my watermark on them. That’s my way of saying: “Hey, this is my work and this is my brand”.

I am obtaining the copyright automatically, simply by clicking the shutter. But, in my personal opinion, the copyright statement must be in the contract, just to remind my clients that the copyright belongs to the photographer.
