Capturing sibling moments during a newborn session can be quite the challenge, especially when the older sibling is between 1 and 5 years old – considered the trickiest age to photograph. Despite the hurdles, I always strive to get a handful of precious shots during our session.

Safety of the newborn is paramount as young children may not realize the impact of their movements. Depending on the sibling’s behavior, there are times when I opt not to include the shots. However, please understand that even if sibling shots are not obtained, they are still part of the package.

In my video, you’ll witness a sweet and caring older sibling who understands the importance of keeping the newborn safe, resulting in some truly precious shots. It’s amazing how the right dynamics can lead to beautiful outcomes.

I also wanted to shed light on the time constraint involved; with young children, speed is key. Typically, I have about 10 to 20 minutes max to work with, as little ones aren’t keen on prolonged photo sessions. Yet, even within this short window, magical moments are captured that parents will cherish forever.
